  1. Belinda King Recruiting Cruise Entertainment Talent in U.S.
    ON 19 JUNE 2013.
England-based Belinda King Creative Productions is moving into New York to recruit dozens of top young U.S. singers and dancers in “American Idol” style auditions next week to staff a massive expansion of new shows they plan to premiere later this year on a number of Carnival Corporation ships.

Ships such as Queen Elizabeth, Queen Mary, Queen Victoria, the Seabourn Quest and Holland America’s Amsterdam are among the vessels that will benefit.

If talent can be found, the company plans to open offices permanently in New York and Miami, according to a statement.

The company has already provided entertainment shows for Monte Carlo, the Middle East, and luxury casino venues throughout Europe.

Belinda King added: “Without anyone noticing, BKCP already provides entertainment for Carnival Corporation. We currently have 50 shows a week performing on Cunard Line, Seabourn, and Holland America Line. Business is booming – butwe want to get bigger and better, and taking over America’s top talent is the way to do it. That’s why we’re moving into New York.

Well over 1000 young singer/dancers have already applied for the auditions at Chelsea Studios in NYC – over 500 purely on word of mouth alone before a single advert had been printed – and they’ve been whittled down to 100 artistes who will audition between 24th-26th June in New York.

Only 43 can be accepted – but Belinda King’s standards are so high, it is unlikely that all the places will be filled from this first audition, according to the company.

Those performers who are successful will be flown to England for a 50-day intensive rehearsal period.

  2. Norwegian Getaway Promises to Raise the Bar on Entertainment
    ON 09 MAY 2013.
Burn the FloorWhile the Norwegian Breakaway is being introduced in New York, Norwegian Cruise Line is already announcing entertainment offerings on its next ship, the Getaway (2014), including the seven-time Tony Award nominated musical Legally Blonde, along with an additional Broadway dance show Burn the Floor and an all-new stand-up comedy program in partnership with Levity Entertainment Group, claiming to be the largest producer of comedians in the world.

The line is also introducing all of the varied entertainment acts and venues that will debut on the next ship, including Howl at the Moon at Headliners Comedy Club. These entertainment experiences are in addition to Norwegian Getaway’s Illusionarium and Grammy Experience, as previously announced, the cruise line said in a prepared statement.

“Norwegian has truly raised the bar when it comes to entertainment at sea and that is why it was extremely important to me that Norwegian Getaway feature high caliber entertainment that will continue to exceed our guest’s expectations,” said Kevin Sheehan, Norwegian’s CEO. “With Legally Blonde performing in the Getaway Theater, along with Burn the Floor, world-class comedy by The Levity Entertainment Group, magic in the previously announced Illusionarium, The Grammy Experience, and all of the other entertainment offerings, we continue our commitment on the Norwegian Getaway to offer guests the best entertainment experience possible.”

The Getaway will feature multiple, specially-designed entertainment venues throughout the ship so that guests can choose from a wide variety of entertainment each evening of their cruise with choices to appeal to a broad audience.

Headliners Comedy Club on the Getaway will feature top-tier comedians presented through the line’s new partnership with the Levity Entertainment Group.

The world’s greatest rock n’ roll dueling piano show, Howl at the Moon, which has received rave reviews on Norwegian Epic and Norwegian Breakaway, will also be featured in Headliners on board Norwegian Getaway. This total entertainment experience features talented piano players who not only entertain the guests; they make the guests part of the show. The fun is centered around two baby grand pianos and a full out rock show with Howl’s entertainers playing music from 70’s rock to hip-hop for four hours per show. Howl at the Moon, with multiple locations across the United States, encourages people to channel their inner rock star, so guests should get ready to clap, sing, dance and howl.

Currently being built at Meyer Werft in Germany, Norwegian Getaway will be 146,600 tons and offer a wide range of accommodations. The ship represents an opportunity for the Norwegian guest to “get away from the routine of work, school, and daily stress, and find a true respite at sea that reflects the energy and culture that Miami is known for worldwide.”

  3. Hey Everyone, It may seem like things have slowed down here, but nothing could be further from the truth… I am in Europe right now, so I’m not online as much, but I am busy preparing content for Gigs On Ships!

  4. I still say a one man close – up show going on at different times throughout the cruise would be great. If the room was set up right you could fit a hundred guests or more if you had tiered seating. Just a thought!

  5. New Entertainment on Norwegian Epic in Europe for 2015
    ON 17 NOVEMBER 2014.
Norwegian Cruise Line today announced a new entertainment line-up for Norwegian Epic, the ship that will be based year-round in Barcelona, Spain, starting April 30, 2015.

Two new Broadway shows will take the stage as headliners: Burn the Floor in April, 2015 and Priscilla, Queen of the Desert – The Musical in October, 2015. The ship will also feature an all-new British pop music entertainment experience, The Cavern Club, bringing the legendary Liverpool venue where the Beatles performed to life at sea.

“We are excited to bring Norwegian Epic to Europe year-round and want to provide our guests with even more exciting entertainment options on the ship that first elevated the onboard entertainment experience,” said Drew Madsen, Norwegian Cruise Line president and chief operating officer. “These new world-class entertainment offerings, along with Norwegian Epic’s innovative accommodations and plethora of dining options, are the perfect combination for the European cruise market and give guests the freedom and flexibility to customize their vacation.”

“Ballroom Blitz,” featuring 14 dancers, a live band and two singers, is an ultimate high-voltage theatrical dance experience that explodes with jaw-dropping choreography, heart-pounding music and breath-taking moves.

Priscilla Queen Of The Desert – The Musical is the heart-warming, uplifting comedy adventure of three friends who hop aboard a battered old bus searching for love and friendship and end up finding more than they could have ever dreamed of discovering.

The Tony Award winning musical features a dazzling array of over 500 award-winning costumes, 200 extraordinary head-dresses and a hit parade of dance floor favorites, including “It’s Raining Men,” “I Will Survive,” and “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun.” The show will open on the ship’s October 18, 2015 voyage.

Norwegian Epic will also receive a whole new entertainment venue created through an exciting partnership with the owners of Liverpool’s The Cavern Club, the birthplace of British pop music.

57 years after its opening, the original Cavern Club survives and thrives as a contemporary music venue. Norwegian will re-create The Cavern Club experience at sea, rocking guests each evening to the sounds of The Beatles, along with other international musicians. The Cavern Club will debut on the October 11, 2015 sailing.
